Biphasic sleep log, week 4

[Week 1] [Week 2] [Week 3] [Current week]

March 22, 2007 - [8:18am] Okay, I am starting to get lazy with the enties, but that is mainly because there is nothing much to report.  I had my naps, I had my sleeps, I haven't really been all that tired.  I would like to thank those who have supported me in this - who have seen the novel or practical sides of biphasic sleep rather than considering me insane for trying to sleep less than the 8 hours a day we have all be taught to do.  If I had the schedule for it, I might have tried polyphasic sleep first, but as it is I have plenty of time awake, even just taking biphasic sleep into account.

March 23, 2007 - [8:54pm] Normally I would be taking my nap right at this time, but a younger bother brother is supposed to be sleeping here tonight and went out for a while.  So, I guess I will be staying awake until he is back.  Grrr!  Anyway, I should be able to adjust my sleep by a little - as long as I get the sleep I need each day.  I had today off as usual on a Friday, but I really didn't get much done other than play a few games.  The next week will be busy as I work on a couple of assignments that are due over the next couple of weeks, and six hours of sleep means I have more wakeful hours than I would have with monophasic sleep.

March 24, 2007 - [4:03pm] I was eventually able to get my nap, then wake up for a couple of hours or so before my core sleep.  I got my six hours and even got to watch one of the DVDs I hired last week: I'll always know what you did last summer. Where the sequal had something to do with the original film (in that 2 from the last movie where killed off), this film had pretty much nothing to do with the last film, and was set about 10 years after that film.  Basic plot idea is that they turn the Fisherman from the first two films into an evil force that is unkillable.. hopefully though this movie did bad enough that any hope for another movie in this series is killed off with it.  I didn't find the move all that interesting to begin with, and got it out of the novelty of seeing it.  It did pass... (looks at the case) 89 minues of my time.

March 25, 2007 - [10:21pm] Okay, I have been having my nap later the past few days, but I have not felt all that tired.  I am about to go to sleep now and wake up about midnight - my core sleep will be later to compensate for this - good thing Mondays are usually a late start.

March 27, 2007 - [8:49pm] Wow, I have not been keeping my logs up.  Anyway, I am just about at the end of the month trail that I decided to do, and I must say that biphasic sleep seems to be a success.  Six hours of sleep each night and still awake to do what I need to de - a pity that I don't have the scedule (or the distractions) to try polyphisc sleep.. having only six hours of sleep often leaves me wondering what to do.

March 28, 2007 - [11:44pm] This day went a bit quicker than usual due to the fact that the class that started at 10am didn't start because the tutor was away.  This meant I didn't have to go in until 1pm.  My nap has been running a little later than usual, mainly because I can get ingrossed in what I am doing and want to get it done first.  In this case, delayed an hour and just woke up 40 minutes ago.. I am definately more awake than I would have been if I stayed awake until this hour.

March 29, 2007 - [11:47pm] I didn't sleep all that well during the core sleep in the morning, I could blame that on caffine a bit because I didn't feel all that tired (Perhaps the next 30 day trial will be getting rid of caffine in my life?). Instead, I went to sleep earlier tonight, getting perhaps a little more sleep during the nap than usual.  I am staying awake until the core sleep as usual.  Often I would not be going in on Fridays, but tomorrow will be a bit of an exception to the rule - you see some reps from Microsoft are coming in to talk about some 'inovations' they have done, as well as hand out free DVDs of accademic alliance software - I think I can curb my usual anti-M$ views in order to see what they are offering.. this is perhaps the one day I wish I had a T-Shirt or top that advertised some version of Linux ;).  Ah well, wasted oportunites.

March 31, 2007 - [7:43am] I feel pretty good after having my usual nap and core sleep combination.  I am pretty aleart and plan on continuing with biphasic sleep, perhaps if I keep staying more and more aleart I will look at cutting the core sleep down to 3 hours and see how that works, but for now sleeping six hours a day can still amaze some people who say they need at least 8 hours a day or they will be tired!

Anyway, what happened yesterday? I went to the Microsoft Academic Aliance show, and they were doing a demo of Visual Studio 2005, which as one of the students enrolled in classes I was able to get a free copy of.. I might even install it one day, but for now I will keep the CD where I can get at it when I feel the need to install.  I had a stroke of luck during the day - they were asking a few questions right at the start, and I managed to get one correct - and I was given a copy of Office 2007 professional for my troubles.  Nice!! Same deal with Visual studio, I will keep it but not install just yet - it is not in retail packaging, so it is not like I can sell it for the over $1000 RRP that it goes for in NZ shops.  Ah well.
